The 2015 Karnataka state films awards committee was detached from selection the prestigious three awards – Dr Rajakumar award, Puttanna Kanagal award and Dr Vishnuvardhana award for lifetime achievement.

The state government formed another committee in the leadership of SK Bhagwan. The committee has now selected yesteryears popular actress Harini for Dr Rajakumar award, for director of high reputation Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar Puttnna Kanagal award has been bestowed while the eminent music director Rajan of Rajan Nagendra duo gets Dr Vishnuvrdhan award.

All the three awards carry cash prize of Rs.2 lakhs and 50 gram gold medal.

Harini has acted in over 30 films and popular among them are Nandadeepa, Naandi, Karuneye Kutumbada Kannu, Jaganmohini, Kanyadaana, Mangala Gowri etc. she was heroine of 11 films of Dr Rajakumar in lead role.

Rajan Nagendra popular duo scored music for nearly 200 films, while Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar is a versatile film maker and literary personality. He has directed 14 Kannada film and rightly fits to the SR Puttanna Kanagal award.
